Mackay Attractions

Artspace Mackay: discover the arts and culture of the Mackay region when you visit Artspace Mackay, the new regional art gallery and museum in the centre of the city.

Greenmount Homestead: at Walkerstone as a museum, is rather unusual. It's vast collection comes from three generations of the Cook family, prominent pioneers of the Pioneer Valley, whose contribution has helped shape the cultural, heritage and economic future of the region. Tours of the homestead are available.

Heritage Walk: The city Heritage Walk transports you back to the days of Australia's first settlers by highlighting some of Mackay's magnificent turn-of-the-century architecture. A must for any visitor, the 90-minute walk includes many buildings that are listed with the National Trust including the Mackay Court House

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens: The Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens was opened May 2003, and is a picturesque landscape overlooking an extensive lagoon, showcasing the unique, diverse and spectacular vegetation of the central coast region.

Mackay Town Hall: Discover a living piece of Mackay's heritage at the Town Hall in Sydney Street, Mackay.

Queens Park Orchid House: The Ken Burgess Orchid House is situated in Queen's Park in Mackay City and has often been described as one of Mackay's secret treasures.

The Horizons Mosaic: On each of the four corners of the crossroads you will find the centre piece of the street: four quadrants of the Horizons Mosaic, a sixteen square metre circle depicting the elements - the rage of the cyclones in contrast with the wonderful colours created by the sun and the moon as they rise and set.
