Museum of Tropical Queensland: At the top of the main staircase, you will find the Great Gallery. This is an enormous display area featuring a real sized reconstruction of the bow of HMS Pandora.

The Strand: beachfront promenade frames the city centre, and is regarded as one of the best inner city beachfronts in Australia. The Strand is lined with restaurants, cafes, bars, recreational facilities, barbeque and picnic areas, swimming enclosures and pools, a waterpark and playgrounds for children, beautiful gardens and sweeping views of Cleveland Bay and Magnetic Island.

Castle Hill: take a drive up to Castle Hill for panoramic views of Townsville and Magnetic Island

Billabong Sanctuary: see native animals in their natural habitat. Wildlife talks, feeding and photo opportunities all day long. Located 17km south of Townsville.

Charters Towers and Ravenswood: the old gold city of Charters Towers sits in the midst of the beauty of the Outback. It's just an easy 90 minute drive from Townsville where you step back in time into a living museum. The old time buildings, heritage pubs, shops, museums and houses provide a treasure trove of experiences.
